you guys, my grandma (my mom’s mom) was a bad.ass. she naturally exuded this no-BS attitude, was a BOMBSHELL in her prime and …don’t worry… rode a motorcycle. this wasn’t 2017 keep in mind and I love that my pinup gorgeous grandmother would ride around on her motorcycle in the 60s. the pics of her are absolutely amazing and although we lost her to cancer a few years ago, I hope I’ve retained some of her vibes. she always reminded us to never care what anybody thinks of us, to do whats right, and always showered us with love and affection.
for those of you who know me, my sister and I are polar opposites. i’m the girly one (in the sense of loving to play in fashion and beauty, etc) and my sister is…well @gnomad_home. check it out – speaks for itself 🙂
when my grandmother passed away (we miss you gorgeous!!), we got some mementos from her and were able to have some of her possessions. my sister chose some knickknacks around the house and I of course chose some jewelry and clothing of hers, including my favorite piece – this floral dress. still to this day those pieces always make me feel the most empowered of any of my clothing, maybe because it was owned by such a rockstar or maybe because her taste was so flawless that anyone would feel like they can take on the world!
I write this to you from my couch with a little elephant sculpture that was once hers (she loved elephants) and am thinking of my gorgeous grandmother. I feel happy and thankful to have known her in many different stages of my life, to have her name as part of mine, and I hope so deeply that i’m making her proud <3
hold on to those sentimental items! I can’t wait to pass these on one day. have a wonderful Saturday my loves xx
